FOURIER TOOLKIT is the ultimate "scientific pocket calculator" for doing frequency spectrum and correlation analysis. With FOURIER TOOLKIT engineers, scientists, statisticians, economists, stock/commodity market analysts, mathematicians, and students may quickly, easily, and conveniently transform data to and from the frequency domain, as well as perform many of the standard time series calculations. Real and complex data is read from standard ASCII disk files. Full flexibility in data storage and retrieval is provided.

FOURIER TOOLKIT is like a scientific pocket calculator in that a wide variety of functions is available at the press of a key. However, you do not need to remember commands, as the software is fully menu-driven.

FOURIER TOOLKIT is an outgrowth of our experience with several other DYNACOMP products, in particular, FOURIER ANALYZER, TRANSFER FUNCTION ANALYZER, and HARMONIC ANALYZER. We found that customers usually did not purchase just one of those products, but rather all three. FOURIER TOOLKIT includes all of the calculation capabilities of those three products, plus much, much more.

Included among the many features are:

o BASIC DATA HANDLING: Data is easily moved to and from ASCII data files (the data file structures are fully described in tha manual). For complex series, you may extract the real or imaginary parts; interchange them; add, subtract, multiply, dot-product, add to/subtract from/ multiply by a complex constant; append or insert zeros; extract; reverse; sort; thin; normalize; shift; limit element magnitude; quantize (1 bit to 2 bytes - very useful for simulating digital filter hardware); and more. Note that calculated results may be used as inputs for further calculations, saved to disk and recalled, etc.

o PLOTTING: Automatically-scaled plots of amplitude and/or phase; real and/or complex values; real versus imaginary; real and imaginary versus another data set. Data files may also be created for import to other plotting software.

o TIME DOMAIN TRANSFORMS: Real and complex data sets may be transformed and new data sets created according to: phase, magnitude, and squared-magnitude; EXP, LN, X^u (where u may be a complex constant), RE(), IMAG(), conjugate; polar to cartesian and reverse transforms; and more.

o FREQUENCY DOMAIN TRANSFORMS: Various Fourier transforms are available: Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and its inverse (IFFT); Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and its inverse (IDFT); Power Spectral Density. The FFT and IFFT are radix-2, limited to 1024 data points.

o FILTERING: Data may be filtered in the time domain using exponential and moving average filters, and in the frequency domain using ideal low pass, high pass, and band pass filters.

o WINDOWING: Four standard windowing functions are available: Hanning, Hamming, Blackman, and Bartlett.

o CORRELATIONS and CONVOLUTIONS: The following calculations are provided for complex data sets: autocorrelation and covariance; cross-correlation and cross-covariance; convolution.

Other features include the ability to create test data sets using various mathematical functions; statistics ;db transformation; removal of the mean; replication; etc.
