An Electronic Atlas for Schools is a powerful Geographical Information System, designed to introduce students to modern computer-based mapping. It allows users to bring maps and data together for display and analysis in many different ways. Students can analyze distribution of population resources and economic activities, use different data types such as statistics and charts, and study environmental issues. This unique classroom resource offers a variety of applications across the curriculum. The disc comes with nearly 1000 interactive maps-world maps, country maps, special subject maps, historical maps, urban area maps and aerial photographs. Details can be switched on or off as required. It also contains many data sets for use in geography, history and science, with many more available from the linked web site. Economic and weather statistics, resource and world photographs, are all available from the disc. A measuring tool, both linear and area, is available for use with the maps, offering a range of measurement units. Maps can be printed as required, and data can be copied and pasted. Users can also enter their own databases and maps, which are integrated seamlessly into the Atlas environment. Electronic Atlas uses the latest information from the Bartholomew's World Physical Database. Unique technology and filtering criteria automatically offer the user the most relevant map for their current view.
